A1 vocabulary
A1 vocabulary is the everyday kind, and a great deal of it is recognisable through the Latin half of English: table, animal, question, important. The danger is exactly there, which is why a whole rung is devoted to false friends. Two things are worth learning stuck to the word from the start: the gender, because it cannot be deduced (la voiture, le livre, la mer), and the verb's preposition, because French hands out à and de in its own way: téléphoner à quelqu'un, jouer au football, jouer du piano.
